This 2 hour beginner wheel throwing class is for ages 12+. All tools and materials are provided, including aprons. Cost is $50 per person; includes up to 2 pieces fired and glazed.
In a single class you will learn basic wheel throwing techniques. Skills include centering, coning, making a floor, pulling walls, shaping. Take this class to try wheel throwing for the first time, to play around, or to brush up on some old skills.
We fire the pieces you make in the class, and they transform from clay to a hard bisqueware. Once that’s finished (1-2 weeks) you can come back to glaze your pieces, or we can glaze them for you with your requested design and colors.
Wheel skills are developed over time, so be patient with yourself! Wheel throwing is like learning to play an instrument: the more you practice, the better you get. To master the art of wheel throwing, we recommend booking a (2 hour) wheel throwing class first, then look to book a 4 or 6 week class if you love it and want more. Portable wheels are available for rent for those who take a 4 or 6 week long class.
*You’ll need to wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting messy!
