Get some clay, throw it on the wheel, spin it, and voila! A plate.
But it’s a bit more complicated than that — so let us show you all the other steps in between during our Pottery Wheel Workshop!
Join an instructor at the studio to go through the whole process of creating a plate on the pottery wheel. You’ll get a demo and then will go step by step to create your first piece, and then have some fun with your second piece! (With the instructor’s help if you need it, of course.)
Our pottery wheel workshops are great for first-timers, beginners, and for anybody who wants to brush up on their skills and get back into it! We invite all experience levels with ages 10+ for this workshop.
Take a look at some examples of plain and painted dinner plates for inspiration!
We’ll give you everything you need to make your pieces. Just come prepared — clothes you don’t mind getting messy (the clay will come out in the wash), close-toed shoes are best, pull back or tie up long hair, and keep the jewelry to a minimum (you’ll have to remove anything on your wrists or extra-long necklaces, and we suggest not wearing rings). (Be aware that the shorter your nails the easier it will be!)
After you’ve made your plates, we’ll fire them. In 7-10 days after class your pieces will be ready for painting!
Ages 16+
